HR Manager

Cammell Laird is seeking a highly skilled HR Manager to lead the development of a proactive, innovative, and responsive HR team. The successful candidate will provide pragmatic, creative, and business-focused HR solutions and recommendations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the operational HR team in providing advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Build relationships with production management and develop a good understanding of their work to support and drive the business forward.
  • Support senior managers and provide advice on HR matters to ensure effective staff management.
  • Develop and implement HR policy, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of HR issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with trade unions.
  • Engage with external resources to support the business, such as legal providers and agencies.
  • Promote employee engagement, monitor employee health and wellbeing, and deliver improvements through occupational health and HR processes.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date data on manual and computerized records, and provide timely reports as required.
  • Manage staff training and development for production and white-collar functions to ensure continuous professional development and succession planning.
  • Participate in training and team development activities to update knowledge and skills.
  • Manage the apprenticeship program and collaborate with local colleges.
  • Work with colleagues to establish best-in-class HR practices and governance.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and other organizational requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to promoting equality and diversity in employment and service delivery.
Requirements:
  • CIPD Level 5/7 qualification
  • Full UK driving license
Desirable Attributes:
  • HR management experience in a fast-paced production/manufacturing organization
  • Significant experience of trade unions, their activities, and negotiations
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the business
  • Motivated to improve existing working practices
  • Ability to prioritize and achieve given time scales
  • Employment law knowledge
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Methodical approach to planning and organizing workload
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confidential attitude
