Job Description

Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support

Location: Bournemouth

Job Type: Temporary, with potential for permanent position

Salary: £12.90 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialized SEMH school in Bournemouth. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to meet the needs of students effectively
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
  • Strong understanding of SEMH or SEN and its impact on learning and behavior
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
