English Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Secondary School

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our team at a reputable secondary school in York. This is a full-time maternity cover position starting after the October half-term, offering an exciting opportunity to inspire students and make a lasting impact in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and dynamic English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students to achieve their full potential in this core subject.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality English lessons that cater to varying levels of ability, ensuring students are engaged, challenged, and supported in achieving their target grades.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback to students on their progress, maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other members of the department to maintain consistency in curriculum delivery, preparing students for GCSE exams and providing them with the tools and confidence to succeed.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English language and literature.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a stimulating learning environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive educational experience for all students.
