About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Manager to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a crucial role in developing and leading the delivery of finance business partnering in support of our business plan.

As a Financial Operations Manager, you will oversee the finance operations function and ensure alignment with our Group Finance Strategy. You will be responsible for delivering analysis of results, plans, and forecasts to support our leadership team and Group Finance requirements.

You will lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, ensuring robust documentation of assumptions, stress tests, drivers, and outputs. You will also provide guidance and challenge in relation to commercial and financial aspects of our business to maximize profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver analysis of results, plans, and forecasts to support our leadership team and Group Finance requirements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, ensuring robust documentation of assumptions, stress tests, drivers, and outputs.
  • Provide guidance and challenge in relation to commercial and financial aspects of our business to maximize profitability and efficiency.
  • Deliver complex financial modeling relating to KPIs and value drivers.
  • Provide and develop insightful financial information and commentary.
  • Deliver a robust and reliable view of outturn for the year.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and trends and escalate via appropriate channels.
  • Highlight appropriate actions.
  • Provide Company and Niche level analysis of profitability and Return on Capital.
  • Support the production and analysis of monthly/quarterly portfolio management MI and associated commentary to feed into relevant leadership team and Board Meetings.
  • Support and deliver change requirements and continuous improvement within the Finance team.
  • Lead the finance team to deliver day-to-day operational activities, month-end close, and reporting requirements.
  • Challenge business decisions and performance by providing insightful information, including explanations of financial performance in the context of our strategy and plans.
  • Deliver, analyze, and monitor Management Information, including trends of KPIs, portfolio, and broker performance, and expense management, taking proactive action to optimize financial performance.
  • Delivery of information to Group Reporting to allow internal reporting, statutory, and regulatory reporting.
  • Motivate and lead the development and performance of the Finance team, creating an empowered, disciplined, high-performing, and collaborative team.
  • Support and represent (when required) the Head of Insurance Finance (ex-UKGI) by providing analysis, insights, and reports as requested.
  • Ensure agreed standards of financial control, governance, and the risk management framework are embedded in all business processes.
  • Commitment to personal and technical development both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CPD).
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Manager with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Microsoft Excel proficient, and Power BI capabilities preferred
  • Strong commercial understanding
  • Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships while maintaining objectivity, challenge, and influence.
  • Excellent Communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and engagement skills, with demonstrable ability to lead, direct, and coach both own direct reports and wider team.
  • Track record of delivering cultural change, creating empowered and disciplined high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrable predisposition and ability to work collaboratively with other Ansvar functions and Group Finance function.
