Brighton College is looking to recruit two Campus Safety Coordinators on a full-time, permanent basis.

The primary objective of this role is to serve as a key point of contact for visitors, staff, and students at Brighton College, necessitating exceptional communication abilities and the capacity to handle situations with composure.

Role Overview:
The Campus Safety Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment across College properties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible security presence on campus.
  • Actively monitor the safety of the College, Prep School, and associated locations.
  • Stay vigilant for potential security threats.
  • Interact with students, staff, governors, and visitors in a courteous and helpful manner.

Core Duties:

  • Open and secure campus facilities at scheduled times.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the grounds and buildings.
  • Respond to various alarms (fire, intrusion, etc.).
  • Address emergency calls from staff, students, and health services.
  • Manage the Security Lodge when not engaged elsewhere.
  • Collaborate with event organizers during duty hours.
  • Ensure the safety of students, staff, and governors on campus.
  • Safeguard visitors to the College.
  • Oversee traffic management during designated times.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with diverse individuals.
  • Conduct basic investigations and prepare reports.
  • Fulfill any other reasonable requests from management.

Candidate Profile:

  • Must possess a current SIA Door Supervisor qualification.
  • Demonstrated interest in working within an educational environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in IT applications.

Child Protection Responsibilities:

  • This position involves regular interaction with students and engaging in activities relevant to child welfare.
  • All staff members are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young individuals.

Working Hours:
* 40 hours per week (Monday to Sunday) on a rotating schedule between 06:30 and 23:00.

  • This will involve working 5 out of 7 days per week, including some weekends and public holidays.
  • Depending on the shift pattern, actual hours may vary, but will average no more than 40 hours per week over a 7-week period.
  • Flexibility in working hours is essential.
  • Overtime opportunities may be available occasionally.

Compensation:
The salary for this position is £25,168 per annum.

Vacation:


23 days per year, plus public holidays, increasing to 28 days plus public holidays after two years of service (with 3 days required to be taken during the College's closure period).
