About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Marine Structures Engineer to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a key member of our national team, you will be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and substantiating marine and structural designs through calculations, simulations, commissioning, and diagnostic test support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author and review substantiation reports and designs for installation solutions.
  • Lead the production of substantiation reports for design solutions throughout the entire design lifecycle phases, in line with recognized standards and to the required time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Lead design teams and other stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including supporting design reviews, and act as Technical Authorities within their area of expertise.
  • Develop innovative design solutions with robust engineering substantiation.
  • Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of technical and production queries.
  • Produce, approve, and authorize technical reports and other documentation.

Requirements

  • High level of developed knowledge and experience, the role is directly accountable for design development, and determines solutions to problems and issues within their specialist subject area.
  • Ideally degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in a relevant field will be considered.
  • A member of a relevant institution (e.g. RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold Chartered status.
