At Babcock International Group, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Principal Marine Structures Engineer, you'll play a key role in our national team of engineers and designers within the Marine Sector.

The Role

As a Principal Marine Structures Engineer, you'll be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and substantiating marine and structural designs through calculations, simulations, commissioning, and diagnostic test support. You'll contribute to and lead product development throughout the design lifecycle and provide technical support to our key customers, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author and review substantiation reports and designs for installation solutions.
  • Lead the production of substantiation reports for design solutions throughout the entire design lifecycle phases, in line with recognised standards and to the required time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Lead design teams and other stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including supporting design reviews, and act as Technical Authorities within their area of expertise.
  • Develop innovative design solutions with robust engineering substantiation.
  • Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of technical and production queries.
  • Produce, approve, and authorise technical reports and other documentation.

Essential Experience

High level of developed knowledge and experience, the role is directly accountable for design development, and determines solutions to problems and issues within their specialist subject area.

Qualifications

  • Ideally degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in a relevant field will be considered.
  • A member of a relevant institution (e.g. RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold Chartered status.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
