Job Title: Supervising Social Worker

Barnardo's Scotland Fostering Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, with their office base in Edinburgh, and will be responsible for providing support and advice to foster carers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside other team members to provide support and advice to foster carers, demonstrating initiative while being part of a team.
  • Ensure the welfare of children and young people remains paramount in all aspects of the service.
  • Represent the voice of children and young people, as well as foster carers and adopters, through participation and consultation activities.
  • Deliver training to foster carers and adopters on relevant standards, providing feedback to update training materials.
  • Be flexible to respond to the needs of young people, carers, and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in fostering assessments or similar.
  • Have a good understanding of legislation and national standards.
  • Hold a relevant social work qualification, such as DipSW, CSS, or CQSW.
  • Be registered with the SSSC.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child protection procedures.
  • Have previous post-qualifying experience in childcare settings or pre-qualifying work experience in family placement.
  • Hold a full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
