Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and positive individual who is focused on client satisfaction and committed to providing exceptional service within the Council's Executor Services Team.

The role of Financial Services Appointee involves overseeing the financial affairs of over 800 clients in the Sheffield area, including those residing in the community and care facilities.

This position requires interaction with clients who are unable to manage their finances due to various challenges such as mental health issues, substance misuse, or other disabilities. You will communicate with clients via phone or in-person to discuss their income, necessary bill payments, and an agreed-upon amount for personal expenses.

You will also collaborate with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to ensure that clients receive the benefits they are entitled to.

As part of your responsibilities, you will prepare reports for the Office of Public Guardianship for the Court of Protection, detailing how you have managed clients' finances. This may involve visiting clients to explain your role and the financial management processes. Additionally, you may need to coordinate the clearance of properties, manage the sale of personal belongings, and facilitate property sales.

Team Collaboration:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients in claiming appropriate DWP benefits to enhance their income and prioritize their financial obligations.
  • Assist clients in navigating welfare reform changes to alleviate potential impacts.

Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of the Court of Protection as it pertains to Local Authorities.
  • Familiarity with the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Knowledge of DWP benefits and current changes.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to relevant procedures, policies, and legislation.
  • Experience with general office administration systems and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications.
  • Capacity to learn and adapt to new IT systems.
  • Competence in managing and storing information within databases.
  • Understanding of online banking platforms.

This role will be based within the Executor Services team, requiring flexibility to meet with clients who may reach out to discuss their financial situations.
