Executor Services Financial Officer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual who is focused on client satisfaction and committed to providing exceptional service within the Council's Executor Services Team.
The Financial Appointee Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial affairs of over 800 clients in Sheffield, both in community settings and care facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients who are unable to manage their finances due to mental health issues, substance misuse, or other disabilities. This includes communication via phone and in-person meetings to discuss income, bills, and personal allowances.
- Collaborate with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to ensure clients receive the appropriate benefits they are entitled to.
- Prepare reports for the Office of Public Guardianship for the Court of Protection, detailing financial management activities. This may involve visiting clients to clarify your role and financial management processes.
- Organize the clearance of clients' properties, including the sale of personal belongings and real estate when necessary.
Each team member will manage their own caseload, while also fostering collaboration with colleagues and their clients.
Team Collaboration:
- Exhibit effective communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
- Provide guidance and support to clients in claiming the correct DWP benefits to enhance their financial situation and prioritize essential payments.
- Assist clients in navigating welfare reform changes to minimize adverse effects.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive understanding of the Court of Protection within local authorities.
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.
- Familiarity with DWP benefits and current changes.
- Ability to interpret and adhere to relevant procedures, policies, and legislation.
- Experience with general office administration systems and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new IT systems.
- Competence in data entry and information management on databases.
- Understanding of online banking systems.
This role will be based in Howden House, with opportunities for home working within the Executor Services team. Flexibility is essential, as you will meet with clients who require assistance with their financial matters.
