Client Financial Management Officer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual who is focused on customer service and committed to providing exceptional support within the Council's Executor Services Team.
The role of Financial Services Appointee involves overseeing the financial affairs of over 800 clients in Sheffield, including those residing in the community and care facilities.
This position requires engagement with clients who are unable to manage their finances due to various challenges, including mental health issues, substance misuse, and other disabilities. You will communicate with clients through phone calls and in-person meetings to discuss their income, necessary bill payments, and a designated amount of personal funds.
You will also collaborate with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to ensure clients receive the benefits they are entitled to.
As part of your responsibilities, you will prepare reports for the Office of Public Guardianship for the Court of Protection, detailing your management of client finances. This may involve visiting clients to explain your role and the financial management processes. Additionally, you may need to coordinate the clearance of properties and the sale of belongings.
Team Collaboration:
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
- Provide guidance and support to clients in claiming appropriate DWP benefits to enhance their income and prioritize essential payments.
- Assist clients in navigating welfare reform changes to alleviate potential impacts.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of the Court of Protection within local government.
- Familiarity with the Mental Capacity Act.
- Knowledge of DWP benefits and current changes.
- Ability to interpret and adhere to policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Experience with office administration systems and processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications.
- Capacity to learn and adapt to new IT systems.
- Competence in data entry and management within databases.
- Understanding of online banking systems.
This role will be based in Howden House and will involve flexible working arrangements, including client meetings to discuss financial matters.
