Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a remarkable opportunity for a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner, or Midwife to take on the role of Supervisor for maternity theatres within our organization. We seek an individual with outstanding communication and leadership abilities, capable of motivating and guiding a team while demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing our maternity theatre services across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years' experience in a senior nursing or midwifery role, specifically at Band 6 or equivalent, and will have comprehensive knowledge of theatre operations. Experience in service enhancement and a collaborative approach to working with a multidisciplinary team are essential. The candidate should also be adept at monitoring, maintaining, and improving service quality.
This position entails responsibilities related to recruitment, and prior experience in building and nurturing a theatre team would be advantageous. Key responsibilities include ensuring that the working environment is developed and sustained to meet established standards. As a senior team member, you will play a pivotal role in the continuous advancement of maternity services across various sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a role model and advocate for the team, ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained within the department.
- Collaborate with the Theatre and Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit leads, ensuring that cleanliness and hygiene standards are upheld in the department.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team framework.
- Foster a positive and innovative working environment, valuing the contributions of all team members.
- Commit to personal and professional growth, as well as the development of team members.
- Stay informed about local, regional, and national healthcare agendas.
- Understand relevant National Service Frameworks and clinical guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures, promoting awareness among staff.
- Maintain clinical competence and awareness of organizational strategies and commitments to patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) / Registered Operating Department Practitioner / Registered Midwife.
- Recognized teaching and assessing qualification.
Essential Experience
- Minimum of two years post-registration experience at Band 6 or equivalent.
- Proven experience in team management and leadership.
- Budget management experience.
- Experience in audit and standard setting.
- Clinical leadership experience.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workloads effectively.
- Understanding of the skills and knowledge required to lead and develop team members.
