Waste Supply Manager

We are seeking a Waste Supply Manager to assist with large-scale mobilizations and offer waste management expertise across various sectors within Compass.

In this capacity, you will contribute to designing the optimal end-to-end waste management process, focusing on key metrics such as cost, quality, and service.

You will also support sectors during the tender bidding process, ensuring that proposals are client-centric and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director, Head of Environmental Supply Chain, and SES (Non-Food) to formulate and implement a long-term category strategy that fosters sustainable enhancements in cost, quality, service, and innovation.
  • Identify and onboard potential new suppliers (both regional and national) to enhance the Compass Waste and Environmental offering.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective waste solutions for GPO clients and suppliers, building relationships and visiting clients to understand their challenges and how Compass can deliver value and drive revenue growth in this sector.
  • Ensure KPIs (at supplier, sector, and site levels) are established, regularly reported, and reviewed to maintain quality and service while ensuring compliance with Compass sector requirements.
  • Create and maintain long-term pricing mechanisms across the category and supply base to secure a sustainable competitive edge.
  • Assist in developing new revenue streams that can be offered to suppliers and the GPO business.
  • Evaluate bids in collaboration with the Foodbuy SES (Non-Food) Procurement team and sectors, making recommendations based on commercial, technical, supply, and quality criteria, leveraging your category expertise.
  • Address sector inquiries related to service, cost, quality, and innovation, providing recommendations based on your category knowledge.
  • Communicate industry trends throughout the organization.
  • Manage category/sector-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Waste Industry is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of the Waste industry and its various waste streams, with a robust network.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to perform under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience managing multiple suppliers and holding them accountable to KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying information clearly and guiding discussions towards necessary decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence and challenge across all levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce costs in challenging market conditions for both Compass and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently to tackle complex issues.
  • Evidence of cross-functional collaboration.
