Overview:

As a pivotal member of our team, you will oversee the daily operations of the local service team, ensuring adherence to established resources and budgetary constraints while aligning with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and inspire the local operations team, serving as a mentor and role model while effectively implementing company policies.

· Act as the Rail Incident Officer (RIO) when necessary, ensuring that the command structure is established and leading the coordination of infrastructure and service recovery efforts.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including maintenance teams and train operating companies.

· Manage local operational resources and budgets to ensure seamless train service delivery, even during disruptions.

· Execute pre-established delivery and contingency strategies to optimize train performance.

· Support the development of local emergency plans, ensuring consistency and compliance with route requirements.

· Proactively oversee proposed maintenance activities to enhance train service efficiency.

· Administer a controllable operational expenditure budget while adhering to procurement guidelines.

· Ensure compliance with relevant procedures outlined in the Operations Manual, Rule Book, and applicable safety management systems.

· Oversee competency assessment processes for team members.

· Direct resources in response to incidents affecting infrastructure, collaborating with Network Rail Control.

· In partnership with Network Rail Control and the Operations Manager, manage the real-time coordination of Mobile Operations Managers to ensure strategic coverage during service disruptions.

· Specify, allocate, and maintain vehicles and response equipment, ensuring they are appropriately maintained and fit for operational use.

· If qualified, operate signal boxes as directed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

· Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop personnel.

· Competency in rules and regulations at level 2.

· Capability to achieve relevant assessor qualifications.

· Ability to attain Rail Incident Officer status.

· Strong decision-making skills and assertiveness.

· Understanding of customer needs and expectations.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills.

· Valid driving license.

· Ability to achieve necessary box competencies.

Desirable:

· Familiarity with financial systems and budget management.

· Commercial awareness.

· Proficiency in IT for report writing and corporate information management.

· General knowledge of business improvement processes.

· Understanding of the railway industry structure and responsibilities.

· Experience in employee relations.

· Skills in investigatory techniques, including Root Cause Analysis.
