Site Agent - Civil Engineering - Preston

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Agent to join our North West UK Civil Engineering Division. As a Site Agent, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day supervision of construction on site, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the site throughout the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in compiling the initial project programme and have a full awareness of weekly targets.
  • Plan and oversee the site setup, ensuring that the appropriate facilities are in place prior to project launch.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors while working on site.
  • Ensure adherence to HSEQS protocols at all times.
  • Maintain quality control procedures at all times.
  • Ensure the Time Recording and Workforce Register (TWR) is in place and up to date.
  • Implement an efficient registration system to monitor all individuals entering and leaving the site.
  • Flag any issues with the Contract Management/Commercial Teams that may impact project delivery.
  • Drive the pace of the project and plan work in the field.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the sequence of activities on site.
  • Manage a team of foremen and other site staff.
  • Ensure all employees adhere to appropriate protocols in the event of an incident on site.
  • Relate company commercial strategy to own activities.
  • Operate the site on a holistic 'cradle to grave' project management approach.
  • Communicate site requirements to the commercial team and achieve the most economical reasonable solution.
  • Delegate responsibilities to suitable site staff.
  • Manage information and record of relevant contemporaneous records.
  • Follow the Project Execution Plan (PEP) to ensure work is carried out on time and on budget.
Experience and Skills:
  • Strong people management experience.
  • Knowledge of good industrial relations practices.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and difficult stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a warm and persuasive way.
  • Can build consensus.
  • Strong people skills and able to manage a variety of subcontractor supervision.
  • Experience of leading others and track record of delivering medium to large-scale projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and make prompt decisions in the interests of the project.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all trades required on site, codes of practice, and specific requirements.
  • Experience building credibility with contractors by treating them with respect.
