About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a primary school in Wigan. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the professional work of teachers and contributing to the development of students in a diverse educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Collaborate with teachers to prepare and deliver lesson resources, and lead classes during scenarios such as PPA time and teacher absence.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a controlled and safe environment in the classroom, and work closely with other LSAs and support staff to ensure a smooth learning experience.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Monitor pupils' progress, assess their achievements, and report on their development to teachers and other stakeholders.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Liaise with teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration in the classroom.
  • Support and Development: Work with classes, small groups, and individual children to provide targeted support and development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience: HLTA qualified (L3/4 upwards) with previous experience working with young people, particularly in a teaching or leadership role.
  • Skills and Abilities: Comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviors, able to engage with and build rapport with young people, and possess creative, proactive, and flexible supporting skills.
