Toolmaker and Machinist Role

We are currently recruiting for an Experienced Toolmaker to join our client in their Reading site.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. An experienced toolmaker, preferably with experience of injection moulding tools.
  2. Attend to and rectify any faults or damage to moulding tools as directed by the Manager.
  3. Maintain mould tools and ensure that they are ready for use when required.
  4. Carry out any repairs and modifications to tools as required by customers when authorised.
  5. Use manual milling machines, lathes, cylindrical grinders, manual and CNC spark eroders.
  6. Manufacture and fit new injection mould tools.
  7. Use hand tools such as files, hacksaws, and grinders.
  8. Ensure that the toolroom equipment is operated in accordance with operating procedures and report any faults immediately.
  9. Assist the Maintenance Department as required.
  10. Ensure compliance with health and safety rules and regulations.
  11. Make and assemble new plastic injection moulds to a very high standard, which involves accurately reading/interpreting highly technical engineering drawings, accurate final grinding of mould parts, and the final assembly of complete moulds.
  12. Participate in and facilitate continuous improvements to tooling and production methods.
  13. Maintain and update relevant documentation.
  14. Work as part of a team to ensure set targets for delivery, quality, and efficiency are met.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in a similar injection moulding toolmaker role.
  2. Multi cavity mould tool experience.
  3. Progression press tool knowledge.
  4. Detailed working knowledge of the assembly of new high-quality mould tools.
  5. Use of surface grinding machines.
  6. Toolroom inspection equipment and the ability to read and interpret highly technical engineering drawings.
