Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, including those within the Autism Unit.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
- Foster independence, confidence, and self-esteem in students with ASD through personalized support and encouragement.
- Help students engage with the curriculum and participate in classroom activities to the best of their abilities.
- Support students in developing social skills and building positive relationships with peers.
Requirements:
- Experience working with students with ASD is desirable.
- A compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education, SEN support, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
