Position Title: Apprentice Aircraft Technical Mechanical

Program Overview: This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to the field of Aeronautical Engineering, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Apprenticeship Structure:

  • Level: Level 2 Foundation leading to NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Technical Certification: National Diploma Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering.

Duration: This is a permanent role designed to provide long-term career development.

Location: The initial year will be spent in a full-time educational setting, followed by hands-on experience at designated facilities.

Travel Requirements: Involves travel to educational institutions and designated work sites, along with potential travel for career-related events.

Role Summary: This apprenticeship is structured to deliver a balanced approach to Aeronautical Engineering, focusing on both academic learning and practical application. The program spans three years, with the first year dedicated to foundational studies at partner colleges, and the subsequent years emphasizing on-site training.

Curriculum Overview:

The first year encompasses Level 2 Foundation studies, which include:

  • Engineering Operations
  • Technical Courses
  • Advanced Mathematics for Engineers
  • Essential Skills Level 2
  • Functional Skills Level 2

The second and third years will advance to Level 3, building upon the foundational knowledge and leading to:

  • NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering
  • Technical Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering
  • Wider Key Skills and Personal Learning Skills

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at higher grade (C or above), including Mathematics, English Language, and Science (Double Award) at grade B.
  • If Science has been studied as individual subjects, one must be in Physics.
  • Candidates must be prepared to undergo background checks and security clearance procedures.

Desirable:

  • Possession of an Engineering Diploma, Principle Learning, PEO Level 2, or pathways to apprenticeship qualifications.
