About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Specialist to join our team at Capita Health Assessment Advisory Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in conducting assessments and providing expert advice to support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in making informed decisions about individuals' health and care needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial reviews, paper-based, face-to-face, video or telephone assessments to evaluate how a claimant's health condition or disability affects their day-to-day life
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports of the evidence gathered for each claimant, ensuring enough detail, evidence, and justification are given to support the DWP in making decisions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a high-quality service is delivered, and contribute to the development of new processes and procedures as needed
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical knowledge and best practices, and apply this expertise to inform your assessments and recommendations
Requirements
  • One year's post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic
  • Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or other), without restriction or conditions, and with a valid PIN
  • Excellent observational and communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathize, and dig deeper
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and remote access systems
  • A current valid driving license or access to a form of transport to attend your nearest assessment center
What We Offer
  • A competitive basic salary of £38,500 (pro rata for part-time) plus up to 5% training bonus, rising to £39,900 (pro rata for part-time) on achievement of remote approved status plus up to 10% bonus
  • 25 days' holiday (rising to 27 after 5 years) with the opportunity to buy extra leave (pro rata for part-time)

About Capita Health Assessment Advisory Service

Capita was awarded two contracts to deliver the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) assessments in the Midlands and Wales for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and in Northern Ireland for the Department for Communities (DfC). HAAS is a new service that will bring together existing assessment services, for disabled people and people with health conditions, under a single provider in each geographical region. This will make accessing support simpler and easier for some of society's most vulnerable people.
