Core Responsibilities:

As a Lead Cost Manager at Kier Group, you will be essential in overseeing and enhancing project expenditures from the initial stages through to completion, ensuring optimal value while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance.

Daily Duties:

  • Direct cost estimation and commercial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop comprehensive cost forecasts, budgets, and financial plans.
  • Manage procurement activities, including the preparation and assessment of tenders.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, value management, and financial control measures.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Track project budgets, manage changes, and produce detailed financial documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and quality benchmarks.
  • Guide and mentor junior cost managers and team members.
  • Work collaboratively with project leaders, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

This position is suited for individuals who:

  • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Have significant experience as a cost manager, preferably within a main contracting setting.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, contract regulations, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate a successful history in cost estimation, budget oversight, and financial reporting.
  • Are skilled in utilizing industry-specific software and tools.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Are detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Have experience in leadership and can provide mentorship to junior staff.
