Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team in the Buckingham Area. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for performing manual labor and other maintenance tasks as needed for project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform flagging operations to ensure safe work zones
- Assist in setting up work zones to ensure efficient project completion
- Perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools to complete tasks efficiently
- Operate light and medium equipment to support project needs
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor
- Skill in operating, maintaining light and medium equipment used for highway maintenance and repair
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures
- Ability to read, follow oral and written instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in equipment operation and performing preventive maintenance
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Maintenance, Construction, or related field
- Experience with emergency operations, including snow removal, storms, and accident clean-up
- Experience performing roadway maintenance or construction activities
Working Conditions
The Laborer will work in diverse conditions, including exposure to weather outdoors in all seasons. Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including standing, bending, and frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
