We have several part-time, term-time only positions available for proactive and dedicated individuals who are eager to support the School Aged Immunisation Service. Opportunities are available within the Oxford area, with weekly hours ranging from a few to 26 hours during term time.

This role offers a flexible schedule to accommodate service needs, including potential early starts at 07:30 and occasional weekend and evening shifts. Candidates should also be willing to travel to various locations as required.

We are looking for adaptable individuals with strong administrative and clinical skills, particularly those with experience working with children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to assist the School Aged Immunisation team in organizing, managing, and executing the school-based immunisation program across various educational institutions. This includes attending immunisation sessions at schools and community clinics to provide essential administrative support. As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will also be responsible for administering Flu vaccinations to young individuals, following the guidance of a registered healthcare professional. Additionally, you will monitor students post-vaccination to ensure their well-being. Comprehensive training will be provided.

This position requires travel to schools and community venues, thus a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are necessary. Adjustments can be made in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, and mileage will be reimbursed from the base location.

Job Requirements

To support the Service in achieving high vaccination uptake within a safe environment, you will liaise with schools and families to arrange vaccination sessions and provide necessary information to parents for informed consent.

You will assist with the storage, transportation, and delivery of vaccines and equipment, ensuring proper disposal of used clinical materials and maintaining strict confidentiality of data and patient records. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Applicants should have experience working in educational settings or with children and young people. Due to the nature of the role, candidates must have one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Experience as a vaccinator in a Covid/vaccination center.
  • Achieved Level 3 or higher in the NHS Careers framework with relevant clinical experience.
  • Recent experience in an immunisation role with Level 3 in the NHS Careers framework and prior relevant experience.
