Job Description

Job Title: Application Security Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Security Engineer to join our Cyber Security Team at Tesco Technology. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in protecting our organization's systems, services, and data from cyber threats.

About the Team:

Our Cyber Security Team is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our technology infrastructure. We work closely with our software and systems engineering teams to identify and mitigate potential security risks, and to develop and implement effective security controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement security processes and procedures to protect our systems and data
  • Collaborate with our software and systems engineering teams to identify and mitigate potential security risks
  • Design and implement secure systems and architectures
  • Conduct security testing and vulnerability assessments
  • Develop and deliver training on security best practices to our teams
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats and technologies, and recommend improvements to our security posture

Requirements:

  • Proficient in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, JavaScript, Java)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure)
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Proven experience operating and administering Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Understanding of containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong operations and technical troubleshooting experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and common tools (JIRA, Git, GitHub, Nexus)
  • Good understanding of architecture and design principles
  • Understanding of common Application Security Tooling (SCA, SAST, DAST, IaC Security)
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, Mitre Top 25, and CVSS frameworks, mapping to business risk
