Senior Epidemiologist Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Epidemiologist Consultant to join our team at the UK Health Security Agency. As a key member of our Gastrointestinal Infections & Food Safety One Health Division, you will play a critical role in the management of incidents, including outbreaks of gastrointestinal infections.
Key Responsibilities- Closely monitor surveillance systems to assess the need for field investigation and respond to requests for advice from public health physicians and others in the investigation and control of communicable diseases.
- Deploy staff in training and supervise them in field investigations, ensuring the effective management of cases and outbreaks of gastrointestinal infections.
- Contribute to national policy on the control and prevention of infection, developing and contributing to national guidance and guidelines relevant to the diagnosis, control, and prevention of gastrointestinal infections.
- Develop research in areas consistent with the work programme of the Division, collaborating with senior colleagues to ensure representation and support is provided to maintain links between the Division and relevant European Union designated surveillance networks, the World Health Organization, and other national and international policy development forums.
- Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
- Minimum 6 months training in health protection and experience of communicable disease control in a wide variety of settings, including out-of-hours on-call.
- Postgraduate experience in infectious diseases epidemiology and personal expertise in dealing with complex clinical queries on vaccines.
- Experience in the public health management of cases or incidents of gastrointestinal infections and research experience, including protocol development.
- Understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics, and healthcare evaluation.
