Pharmacy Operations Supervisor

37.5 hours per week – Monday – Friday 9am – 5:30pm

Position Overview:

  • At least two years of experience in staff management or supervision - Essential
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a pharmacy stores and distribution environment - Essential
  • Oversee the stores and distribution team, ensuring efficient daily operations and coordination of services and personnel in the stores and distribution sector.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee a proficient and effective replenishment and distribution service to all wards and departments.
  • Conduct stock level and expiration date assessments in line with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Engage in the education and training of pharmacists, technicians, and assistants.
  • Utilize the Epic system for stores and distribution-related matters and provide support and training on its application.
  • Contribute to trust-wide and departmental projects where stores and distribution expertise is necessary.
  • Maintain and rotate sufficient stock levels of all medications and consumables within stores to minimize waste.
  • Coordinate and supervise stores staff regarding cycle counts, picking lists for replenishment requests, and other tasks performed within stores or distribution.
  • Ensure that appropriate working conditions are upheld and that the principles of Good & Safe Practices, as well as the Health & Safety at Work Act, are consistently applied.
  • Ensure proper storage of all medicinal products, adhering to all temperature requirements.
  • Organize an efficient ward replenishment service and produce and distribute weekly schedules to staff.
  • Regularly review ward stock lists in collaboration with relevant colleagues.
  • Address operational requirements as dictated by the daily working environment, such as unloading bulk IV fluid deliveries into the IV storage area.
  • Manage the daily needs of medical gases storage and supply, ensuring that medical gas training requirements are met for the stores team.
  • Assist in coordinating the training and accreditation of Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, and Pre-registration trainees within the stores team.
  • Train all new personnel in current ward replenishment procedures and monitor their progress regularly.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and that record-keeping and training documentation are completed accurately.
  • Coordinate actions related to the department's drug recall procedures for medications stocked within the stores and dispensary areas.
