Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of professional training and apprenticeships in the Financial Services Sector, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Administrator Apprentice to join their team.

Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts, invoices, and payroll, while also monitoring profit and loss trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Input financial data into the company's accounting package, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage payroll, including processing payments and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure correct holiday and absence reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers via phone and email to resolve queries and issues.
  • Manage annual subscriptions and renewals, aligning with the company's needs and goals.
  • Support the Managing Director and Finance Director with contract-related tasks and other duties as required.
  • Oversee the company's budget, ensuring it remains up-to-date and relevant.
Key Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the company's growth and development by providing essential data and insights.
  • Offer objective advice to department heads to inform strategic decisions.
  • Identify business opportunities and propose creative solutions to drive growth.
  • Recognize and mitigate potential risks to minimize costs.
  • Foster a culture of commercial awareness, aligned with the company's objectives.
Functional Accountabilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely publication of information for the Board.
  • Keep the Board informed of issues or potential risks to the company.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Minimum Requirements
  • Accountancy Level 3 or above.
  • Experience with the Xero accounting package.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including complex linked spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Apprenticeship funding.
  • Understanding of HMRC online portals for Payroll, VAT, etc.
  • Sound understanding of financial risk management.
