Beacon Support Ltd. is seeking highly skilled and compassionate individuals to fill the role of Specialist Disability Mentor. As a Specialist Disability Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting Higher Education students with disabilities/mental health conditions. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and contribute to their academic success.

About the Role

The Specialist Disability Mentor will provide one-to-one support to students, helping them to develop coping strategies and techniques to overcome their disability-related difficulties. This role requires excellent communication skills, organisational skills, and flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised support to Higher Education students with disabilities/mental health conditions
  • Assist students in developing coping strategies and techniques to overcome disability-related difficulties
  • Work collaboratively with students, academic staff, and other support services to ensure effective support
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health or a related field
  • Experience of working with students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) in higher or further education
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs
