Job Category:
Management, Social Care

Role Overview:
Are you dedicated to positively impacting the lives of young individuals? We are committed to collaborating to enhance the lives of children and young people, ensuring they 'experience the best life possible' by offering a nurturing and supportive environment tailored to their unique needs.
This objective is realized by placing the child or young person at the forefront of all support planning and devising strategies that empower them to develop skills across various life aspects, fostering independence and community inclusion based on their priorities.
As the Deputy Manager, you will oversee the operational management of the team of residential support workers within the children's residential home.
A primary responsibility will be to advocate for and implement 'Active Support', 'Positive Behaviour Support', and 'Reduction of Restrictive Practices' as essential methodologies for enabling children and young people to engage more fully in their daily lives; fostering strong relationships with their surroundings, cultivating independent living skills, and becoming active participants in their communities through the delivery of high-quality care.
In this role, you will assist the registered manager in:
- Overseeing the execution of operational responsibilities
- Ensuring adherence to the standards set within the regulated service.
- Guaranteeing service delivery aligns with the Social Services and Well-being Act.
As Deputy Manager, you will supervise the staff team to ensure:
Children and young people's needs are prioritized in their care, granting them a voice and control over the outcomes that contribute to their well-being.
Children and young people utilizing the service are empowered to engage more actively in the design and delivery of the service by establishing communication systems tailored to their needs, ensuring they have a clear voice regarding what matters to them.
Expectations:You will be responsible for ensuring the daily operations of the service are conducted in a manner that promotes continuous improvement, enabling children and young people to achieve their full potential; ensuring they receive the appropriate support at the right time; ensuring their safety and protection from harm.
Serve as a positive role model for all team members regarding workplace conduct, providing each team member with the necessary support to perform their duties effectively.
Maintain open and constructive relationships with children/young people, their families, social workers, and other professionals as required, fostering two-way relationships grounded in trust, transparency, honesty, and respect within the professional boundaries.
Provide workplace supervision and guidance for support workers, ensuring they operate safely and in accordance with the standards required of a Social Care Worker under the Social Care Wales Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:Possess QCF Level 3 in Leadership for Children and Young People or an equivalent NVQ to register with Social Care Wales as a children's residential worker.
Ability to achieve City and Guilds Level 4 in Preparing for Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
A minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge in working with children/young people, including those with complex needs and challenging behaviors.
