Position Overview
Title - 1x Advanced Clinical Fellow (24-month Renal Transplant Fellowship)
Employer - North Bristol NHS Trust
Duration - Fixed term for 24 months
Base Hospital - All positions are considered Trust-wide
The primary location will be Southmead Hospital, with potential adjustments based on clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities
The renal transplant unit conducts approximately 150 transplant procedures annually, including around 20 pediatric cases.
We maintain a robust living donor initiative and offer dialysis access to a significant number of patients suffering from end-stage renal failure.
Several of our surgical team members also engage in endocrine and hernia operations, thereby broadening your clinical exposure.
You will participate in the emergency general surgical team on a rotational on-call basis, engaging in admissions, emergency clinics, and urgent surgical procedures.

Qualifications and Registration
Maintain full registration with the GMC.
Possess a higher academic qualification (MD or MSc).
Training and Experience
Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
Completion of Foundation Years 1 & 2 (or equivalent).
Training in laparoscopic surgical techniques.
Evidence of ongoing professional development, including recent CME and reasonable training progression at this career stage.
Experience in audit projects with documented outcomes.
Research, Teaching, and Publications
Demonstrated interest in research with a proven track record.
Evidence of relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Demonstrated involvement in clinical management within the directorate.
Personal Attributes
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, colleagues, and staff at all levels.
