About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mental Health Act Administrator to join our team at Priory Hospital Norwich. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting our patients and ensuring the efficient administration of the Mental Health Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the administration of the Mental Health Act, prioritizing workload to meet changing demands.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983, amendments, and the revised Code of Practice.
  • Support and advise staff, service users, and relatives on the Mental Health Act and associated procedures.
  • Participate in the Healthcare MHA administrators group, MHA training subgroup, and MHA audit subgroup.
  • Create and maintain individual legal files for service users, safeguarding confidential information and statutory documentation.
  • Maintain accurate data for national and local reporting processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with new legislation and implement new policies and procedures as required.
  • Provide MHA training for the hospital and support other MHA administrators as needed.
  • Receive and scrutinize statutory documentation, rectifying errors within the legal timescale.
  • Provide information to service users and their relatives under section 132 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Monitor and record changes in legal status, informing consultants and nursing staff of legal requirements.
