Main Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include:
- Achieving the proficiency standards required for entry into the NMC register as a Specialist Community Practitioner, District Nurse.
- Developing the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to function as a qualified Specialist Community Practitioner within the Neighbourhood Nursing service.
- Gaining expertise in clinical care, community engagement, clinical practice development, and leadership.
This position serves as a developmental role, enhancing existing skills and knowledge to achieve both an academic qualification and a recordable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Detailed Responsibilities
The essential responsibilities of the post holder include:
- Completing the requirements of the Specialist Community Practitioner program through university attendance and practical placements.
- Collaborating with Practice Assessors and Supervisors to develop the necessary skills for NMC Registration Standards.
- Linking theoretical knowledge from the university program to practical applications.
- Understanding relevant healthcare legislation, policies, and guidelines.
- Building skills in caseload management and team leadership.
- Actively participating in team activities, including patient assessments and meetings.
- Understanding governance and assurance processes within the service.
- Adhering to university regulations and organizational policies.
The post holder is expected to comply with all Trust policies and procedures, which are regularly updated.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to study independently at a postgraduate level and proficient IT skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Awareness of contemporary District Nursing roles.
