About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Residential Children's Services team at Polaris Community. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our residential home, providing a safe and supportive environment for young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Manage and lead a team of Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality childcare and support to young people.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Ensure the safety and well-being of young people in our care, complying with company policies and procedures, and reporting any concerns to the designated safeguarding officer.
  • Staff Management: Manage staff rotas, including on-call shifts, and ensure that staff are adequately trained and supported to provide high-quality care.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks, including budget management, petty cash, and record-keeping.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain positive relationships with external agencies, professionals, and families, ensuring effective multi-agency working and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Working towards or hold a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent, and a commitment to completing a Level 5 Diploma within 6 months of appointment.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience of working directly with young people with challenging behavior, and experience of working with outside agencies, other professionals, parents, and families.
  • Skills: Excellent report writing and numeracy skills, well-organized with excellent administration and IT skills, and able to relate to young people with empathy and commitment to high standards of childcare.
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary: Up to £35,213.36 per annum, including sleep-in shifts.
  • On-Call Payments: £10 for weekday shifts and £50 for Saturday and Sunday shifts.
  • Ofsted Bonus: £200 for a Good report and £500 for an Outstanding report.
  • Holiday Allowance: Generous holiday allowance.
  • Pension Scheme: 3% Employer contribution.
