Senior Accountant (Pensions & Treasury) Role

About the Role:

The Hatched Recruitment Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in a key role supporting the Head of Pensions and Treasury in a local authority. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing accounting and reporting services for the authority's pension fund and treasury management functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pensions Accounting:
    • Manage pension fund accounting, including the preparation and reconciliation of pension fund statements.
    • Oversee the calculation and disbursement of pension payments.
    • Ensure compliance with pension regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Treasury Management:
    • Manage treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and investment tracking.
    • Monitor and report on liquidity, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational and capital requirements.
    • Liaise with financial institutions to manage and optimize the organization's financial assets.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and present financial reports related to pensions and treasury, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Audit and Compliance:
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Implement and monitor compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
    • Ensure continuous improvement in processes and systems related to pensions and treasury functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Years of experience in accounting, with a focus on pensions and/or treasury functions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
