Clinical Support Worker

The Clinical Support Worker will be an integral part of the Community Diagnostic Centre team, assisting in the patient's journey primarily within the Cardio-respiratory and Ultrasound departments. This role requires a high level of patient care, comfort, and reassurance, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and departmental protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the clinical area for examinations and daily workload.
- Set up and prepare for procedures as required, ensuring the use of appropriate infection control and clinical waste policies.
- Assist with drainage and biopsy procedures, ensuring samples are correctly labelled and organised.
- Maintain adequate stock levels within the clinical area.
- Assist staff in the preparation of equipment, safe manual handling, and positioning of patients.
- Provide a high standard of patient care, comfort, and reassurance, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and departmental protocols.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment for each examination.
- Be aware of appropriate infection control and clinical waste policies.
- Provide appropriate aftercare as required.
- Ensure patients are aware of how to obtain results and follow-up appointments.
- Work in-line with all Trust policies and procedures.
- Adhere to manual handling and health and safety policies to ensure all reasonable precautions are taken for managing own workplace and the safety of others.
- Undertake any reasonable duty as requested by supervisor, line manager, and the Radiology Services Manager.
- Demonstrate a high level of team working and autonomous practice, within specific guidelines, relevant to the different working areas.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, knowledge, experience, and expertise:
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
- GCSE or equivalent (A-D) in English and Math's.
- Evidence of computer literacy.
- Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Evidence of existing training in a clinical environment.
- Undertake a SCST Award in Practical Electro Cardiography.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge, experience, and expertise:
- Evidence of working as part of a Team.
- Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise tasks appropriately.
Desirable knowledge, experience, and expertise include:
- Recent relevant experience of working in a health-related environment.
- Evidence of working with a wide range of patients with differing care needs.
- Evidence of practical experience with general office work experience dealing with the general public.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and relationship skills, including:
- Ability to use own initiative and adapt to changes within the department.
- Working in a busy environment.
- Communicate well with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Flexibility to cover service needs.
- Demonstrate good time management.
