Job Title: Locum Consultant in Transplant Nephrology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Transplant Nephrology to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with Consultant colleagues and a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality nephrology and transplant services. The post holder will be responsible for providing outpatient care in a general nephrology clinic and to a cohort of dialysis patients.

The Transplant Unit at University Hospital of Wales is a leader in the field, performing approximately 140 adult transplants per year. The post holder will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of patients, including those requiring compatible and blood group and HLA incompatible living donors, deceased donors, and pancreas transplants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality nephrology and transplant services
  • Provide outpatient care in a general nephrology clinic and to a cohort of dialysis patients
  • Work closely with Consultant colleagues and a multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
  • Engage with appraisal and revalidation
Person Specification
  • On GMC Specialist Register for Renal Medicine / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR (Combined Programme) due within 3 months of interview date
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent
  • Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD
