About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Ecological Land Management Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying the Walkham Valley landscape, building relationships with local communities, and developing an ecological understanding to inform the long-term future of this treasured part of Dartmoor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish an ecological baseline and identify priority habitats and species within the catchment
  • Provide options and advice for future enhancement based on the existing ecosystem, opportunities, and the ambition of landowners and land managers
  • Advise and assist farmers to apply for new ELMs agreements, principally SFI and Higher Tier
Requirements

The successful applicant will have excellent ecological knowledge, botanical skills, experience of carrying out surveys, and an understanding of landscape scale ecosystems. They will also have extensive experience of working with farmers and rural communities, and a track record of building positive rapport and long-term working relationships.
