This role is office-based, with working hours from Monday to Friday.

What will you be responsible for as a Financial Accounts Assistant at Avara?

In your role as a Financial Accounts Assistant, you will support the Financial Accountant in preparing precise VAT/government returns, balance sheet reconciliations, and reports for the statutory entities within the Avara Foods Holdings Group.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ERP period close processes, control account reconciliations, and currency revaluations.
  • Reconciling month-end intercompany balances.
  • Preparing monthly VAT submissions for the UK, France, Spain, and the Netherlands, along with European tax submissions.
  • Reconciling statutory turnover with monthly VAT return submission turnover.
  • Conducting monthly reconciliations and releases from group balance sheet accounts, such as overriding discounts, insurance, and prepayments.
  • Preparing and submitting the annual group PAYE settlement liability.
  • Maintaining and submitting relevant compliance forms for Government Climate Change Agreements.
  • Preparing and submitting Government statistical returns.
  • Conducting audit analysis and preparing other year-end schedules.
  • Reconciling goods received note balance sheet accounts and clearing them.
  • Performing other ad hoc financial accounts tasks as required by the business.

What you will need to succeed:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA Part Qualified.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, including double entry.
  • Knowledge of VAT principles.
  • Strong numerical skills and experience in reconciliation work.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in information technology, including integrated ERP systems, systems design, and implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
