About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Projects Lawyer to join our team at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. As a Senior Projects Lawyer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of major projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Line manage a team of lawyers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Deputise for the Principal Lawyer and assist with training and development of junior members.
  • Provide support and oversight on major projects of strategic importance, including the Glassworks, Alhambra, and the Tour of Britain.
  • Attend project board meetings and provide procurement advice.
  • Draft and review construction contracts, development agreements, and framework agreements.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with experience in property law and project management.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
