About the Role

Plymouth City Council's Legal team is seeking an experienced Lawyer to join its highly respected Children's team. The successful candidate will deliver expert legal support and advice to client services on complex child protection matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public law childcare work, with relevant advocacy experience in the Family Courts. They will be able to work on a hybrid basis and attend court hearings in person, although fully remote candidates will be considered.

The role requires a flexible and positive approach under pressure, with excellent communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to build excellent relationships within the immediate team and client departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert legal support and advice to client services on complex child protection matters
  • Conduct advocacy in the Family Courts
  • Work on a hybrid basis, attending court hearings in person and providing remote support
  • Build excellent relationships within the team and client departments
