We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diabetes Specialist Midwife to join our team at the NHS. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert care to women with diabetes during pregnancy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to women with diabetes during pregnancy
  • Act as a lead professional for other midwives and health professionals in diabetes care
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care to women with diabetes and other endocrine conditions
  • Provide visible leadership and expert advice to women and their families, and health professionals
  • Organize and manage referrals to pre-pregnancy, antenatal diabetes, and maternal endocrine services
  • Represent diabetes services at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences
  • Coordinate team representation at Clinical Audit and professional meetings
  • Assist in the implementation of national diabetes and maternity strategies and recommendations
Requirements:
  • Registered Midwife
  • Degree in higher education or equivalent in teaching and assessing in clinical practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • MSc or working towards MSc
  • PG qualification/education in Diabetes management
Skills and Abilities:
  • Sound knowledge and experience of diabetes and its impact upon pregnancy, birth, and future health
  • Able to act as a midwifery specialist adviser to team members and other professional groups
  • Motivated and able to teach students and junior staff
  • Contemporary knowledge of strategic midwifery practice issues
  • Ability to undertake audits and present findings at differing forums
  • Able to use research to plan, implement, and evaluate concepts leading to improvement of the service
