Position Overview
This role is pivotal in supporting the Finance Strategy team. You will be tasked with developing the necessary resources to effectively partner with the business, emphasizing value creation and enhancing overall performance. Collaborating closely with the Head of Strategy Finance, you will leverage your financial modeling expertise and analytical skills to partner effectively with the Director of Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a financial partner for the Strategy team
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to develop comprehensive financial models for new initiatives, ensuring robust business cases
  • Evaluate and comprehend the commercial justification for new ventures
  • Monitor and report on the performance of new initiatives during trial phases to inform key rollout decisions
  • Present financial data in steering groups and operational board meetings, clearly articulating any associated risks
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for project expenditures, keeping Project Managers informed and ensuring the FP&A team is updated
  • Foster strong relationships across finance and the broader business by collaborating cross-functionally and engaging necessary stakeholders for input into financial models
  • Coordinate with advisors, banks, legal teams, and consultants as required
  • Success in this role will entail delivering insightful financial analysis that supports critical strategic decisions, while effectively communicating any financial risks and challenges related to new initiatives. You will be an essential member of strategy project teams, working alongside finance teams and the wider business to achieve desired outcomes.
Candidate Profile
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • Experience in grocery retail or food FMCG, or a strong consultancy background
  • Experience partnering with Commercial teams
  • Commercially savvy with an understanding of the UK retail landscape and its current challenges
  • Exceptional analytical skills, along with advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
  • Adept at navigating ambiguous and unstructured environments
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Resilient individual, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders constructively
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • High intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to exploring new ideas
  • Demonstrated track record of maintaining strong financial controls
  • Team-oriented, able to work effectively within established frameworks with minimal supervision
  • Effective communicator with stakeholders at all levels, including those with varying financial and commercial understanding
  • Excellent storytelling ability, capable of translating complex business and finance concepts into clear, actionable insights for the business.
  • Ability to work independently, showcasing strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.
