Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Advanced Practitioner Assistive Technology to join our team at The Children's Trust. This role requires a highly skilled professional to provide high-quality, evidence-based assistive technology services to children and young people accessing our therapy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of assistive technology interventions for children and young people attending The Children's Trust School and receiving in-patient neurorehabilitation.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Assistive Technology Team, identifying service priorities, delivery methods, and standards of practice.
  • Conduct assessments for complex augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
  • Identify service needs for AAC and select appropriate hardware, software, access, and mounting options, adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with mainstream technologies in specialist support, assistive technology, and computer access.
  • Develop and implement communication and technology resources.
  • Maintain and disseminate specialist knowledge of eye-gaze control and eye-tracking within clinical assessment and management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop therapy goals, plans, and methods, founded on evidence-based practice.
  • Work autonomously, with responsibility for Assistive Technology interventions and maintaining relevant records and reports.
  • Engage with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide a fully integrated approach to child management, including home and school visits, professional meetings, and appointments.
  • Utilise specialist assessments and outcome measures for children receiving assistive technology interventions.
  • Work flexibly across sites and hours to meet service needs, including early evenings and weekends.
  • Represent the Therapy Team and The Children's Trust, deputising for the Team as required.
  • Undertake specialist assessments and respond to national and international requests.
  • Lead complex case management and coordination, as needed.
  • Participate in and chair multidisciplinary team meetings, as required.
