South Coast Nursing Homes is a reputable and thriving, family-owned and operated care home organization located in Worthing, West Sussex.

We proudly manage 9 facilities throughout East and West Sussex, each registered home dedicated to providing exceptional standards of resident care and comfort, available 24 hours a day, for both long-term and short-term stays.

This role is for a Beverage Service Coordinator at our Dementia Specialist Nursing Home, Berkeley Lodge in Worthing.

This is a part-time role requiring 16 hours per week, with a commitment to work every other weekend.

Reporting directly to the Manager, this position plays a vital role in enhancing our residents' daily experiences. Your responsibilities will include preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages. You should be comfortable working independently and possess the ability to think quickly on your feet. While basic catering knowledge and food hygiene awareness are advantageous, comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be warm, welcoming, self-motivated, and above all, compassionate – embodying the essence of our care philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering hot and cold beverages to residents during morning and afternoon service across all areas of the home.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with residents, their families, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Accurately recording fluid intake using the Nourish system.
  • Monitoring expiration dates on consumables stored in the kitchenette.
  • Ensuring kitchenette areas are well-stocked with cups, beakers, cutlery, and other necessary items.
  • Assisting during meal times.
  • Setting tables in the dining area.
  • Monitoring and recording refrigerator temperatures in the kitchenette and dining room.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchenette and managing waste disposal.
  • Completing all assigned cleaning tasks as per schedule.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Knowledge

Essential:

  • A genuine people-oriented approach – friendly, warm, and welcoming. You should possess an empathetic nature that you can effectively utilize.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to interact effectively with residents, families, visitors, colleagues, and management.
  • Confidence and experience in high-pressure situations, with the ability to prioritize tasks independently. Time management skills are crucial.
  • Previous experience in a catering environment will be beneficial, as it provides insight into service expectations and standards.
  • A collaborative team player who is self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with basic food preparation techniques will be beneficial.
  • A Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification is advantageous, as basic food preparation may be required, though full training will be provided.
  • Experience in a catering role, such as in a coffee shop or restaurant front of house.
  • Previous experience working under pressure in a public-facing role.
