Your Responsibilities
As you travel on our trains and patrol various stations, you will address issues related to anti-social behavior, criminal activities, and fare evasion. This may involve intervening in conflicts or gathering evidence for minor offenses.
Collaboration is key; you will work alongside your partner, station personnel, train crews, the British Transport Police, and other agencies to manage incidents and ensure that vulnerable passengers receive the necessary support.
Your primary base will be one of our depots, strategically located across the network.
Training and Development
- Upon joining, you will be enrolled in our Passenger Services Apprenticeship Programme.
- Your training will encompass a blend of classroom instruction and practical experience, covering essential skills such as conflict resolution.
- While physical intervention is a last resort, our training will equip you to handle such situations with confidence and safety.
Work Schedule
- Expect a diverse shift pattern, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
- Shifts may commence as early as 6 AM or conclude at 2 AM.
- While rosters vary, anticipate working a week of early shifts followed by three weeks of late shifts.
Qualifications
No prior railway experience is necessary; we welcome candidates from all backgrounds. The essential qualifications include:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in customer-facing roles, particularly in conflict resolution.
- Sound decision-making abilities and composure under pressure.
- Resilience, assertiveness, and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Competence in evaluating information and making informed decisions.
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Reside within a 45-minute travel radius of your designated location.
- Have been a resident of the UK for a minimum of three years.
- Successfully complete an NPPV Level 2 Vetting process conducted by the British Transport Police.
