Job Description

Apple Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Research Officer to join our team in the Economics department. As a Research Officer, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality, evidence-based research and analysis to inform policy development and decision-making.

Main Responsibilities
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct objective, evidence-based research on economic issues, including public finance, and produce well-written, concise research outputs.
  • Policy Development: Deliver high-quality research and analysis to inform policy development and decision-making, and contribute to the development of RaISe's research portfolio.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Present research briefings and training materials to individual MLAs and their staff, Assembly Committee Members and Officials, and contribute to the peer review of RaISe colleagues' research outputs.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Maintain a specialist knowledge of the post's research portfolio through ongoing learning and development, and identify potential witnesses and specialist advisors for Assembly Committees' consideration.
  • Teamwork and Support: Work collaboratively and collegially as an effective team member, provide support to new staff and interns, and facilitate public events.
  • Business Development: Proactively forge and develop appropriate links with departmental officials, external research bodies, academics, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Possession of at least a second-class honours degree (or equivalent or post-graduate qualification) with at least 50% of the course content relating to policy development or law-making in the area of economics, including public finance.
  • Experience: At least two years of work experience post-degree (or equivalent or post-graduate qualification) in conducting objective, evidence-based research on economic issues, including public finance, and producing and delivering evidence-based research findings to inform policy development or law-making.
Working Arrangements
  • Hourly Rate: Based on £50,684 per annum.
  • Contract Duration: Up to 6 months with possibility of extension.
