Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to join our team at Schindler Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of modernisation projects, ensuring timely completion, maximum efficiency, and best-practice implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the interface with key clients and designers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Oversee the delivery of large projects, achieving agreed objectives on time and within budget, in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Plan, monitor, and coordinate all technical aspects throughout each project phase: sales, pre-tender, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure projects are progressed throughout all phases of tender negotiation and contract delivery.
  • Act as the single point of contact for customers on each project.
  • Ensure all site field employees are fully trained and briefed in site project procedures, with particular reference to CDM requirements for Health, Safety, and Environmental issues.
  • Create a safe working environment for all personnel and equipment.
  • Manage the permit-to-work system on site.
  • Ensure full cooperation and coordination between all parties, including subcontractors, on site.
  • Provide regular progress reporting on design, production, installation, and commissioning.
  • Implement agreed processes for the production, control, and distribution of design information.
  • Identify site problems and liaise with the project team to mitigate their effects.
  • Review contract specifications and coordinate with order processing, engineering, and manage SPN.
  • Manage contract variations and contractual terms and conditions.
  • Control hours and monitor performance issues.
  • Assist in the valuation of monthly accounts in terms of percentage completion.
  • Provide in-process quality checks.
  • Achieve zero defects in our own work and that of subcontractors.
  • Attend relevant meetings as required.
  • Manage the beneficial use of goods lifts.
  • Ensure adequate and suitable labor resources.
  • Develop skills and abilities of the workforce.
  • Comply with Company Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience with major repairs, modernisation, and/or installation on local projects within the lift or equivalent industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of design and construction processes.
  • Management/Supervision, commercial, technical, and installation background with the ability to translate specification and construction issues into workable solutions.
  • A thorough knowledge and technical expertise with lifts and escalators and methods of operation would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in managing field personnel.
  • Vision to identify beneficial solutions.
  • Excellent planning and leadership skills, literate, and numerate.
  • Good communication skills are necessary at all levels; customer representative, internal customers, and all staff on site, and excellent planning and leadership skills.
  • A full UK driving license and willingness to travel is essential as the position requires working flexibility and periodic traveling.
