About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and deliver outcome-focused interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Work in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators to develop plans for intervention and agreed support.
  • Support and empower children, young people, their parents/carers, and families to make informed choices about interventions.
  • Operate from an inclusive values base, recognizing and respecting diversity.
  • Accept referrals according to agreed local and national protocols.
  • Undertake and record accurate assessments of risk and operate clear risk management processes.
  • Adhere to regulations, processes, and procedures within educational services.
  • Signpost referrals of children with complex needs to relevant services.
  • Escalate cases beyond the scope of your practice through case management, supervision, and local pathways.
  • Provide information and support for evidence-based psychological treatments.
  • Manage your caseload in conjunction with service requirements.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings.
  • Keep clear, professionally coherent records of activity and use them to inform decision-making.
  • Assess and integrate issues related to transitions, education, and training/employment into therapeutic work.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical materials and training packages.
  • Prepare and present case load information to supervisors.
  • Engage in personal development supervision to improve competences.
  • Disseminate research and service evaluation findings in appropriate formats.
Requirements
  • Relevant EMHP Post Graduate Diploma qualification following CYP IAPT approved training in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment for Children and Young People.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body.
  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals).
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and commitment to ongoing learning.
  • Proven post-qualification experience of working in and with schools.
  • Experience of multi-agency work and working with children, young people, and families around emotional/mental health, behavioral, and additional health or developmental needs.
  • Ability to manage a defined caseload and participate in case management supervision.
  • Organize own work schedule and maintain accurate case records.
  • Ability to be an autonomous practitioner while working as part of a multi-agency locality team.
