POSITION OVERVIEW

An excellent opportunity for a motivated Technical Project Coordinator to become part of our Proposal Services team and advance professionally in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Reporting directly to the Proposal Services Manager, you will play a crucial role within the Proposal Services division of the Downstream (DN) Sales department, delivering a comprehensive technical and commercial service for the organization.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead and orchestrate the technical proposals for projects, typically ranging from £2-30m in contract value, collaborating with an in-house team of engineers to ensure all project goals are achieved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the execution of project bids, including the creation of technical proposals by leveraging your skills alongside a team of multi-disciplinary engineers, in conjunction with the sales manager and other relevant offices.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Services manager and Technical/Bid Leaders to ensure timely submission of technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of standard and customized technical solutions, taking into account bidding costs, supply expenses, and quality considerations while adhering to bid timelines.
  • Track and report on internal timelines prior to project initiation.
  • Help coordinate engineering man-hour and/or merchant account budgets for pre-project bids.
  • Engage with suppliers to identify the most cost-effective solutions for outsourced systems and equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to facilitate a successful bidding process and foster future business opportunities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Some background in a technical capacity (preferably within the metals sector), with knowledge of Technical Sales.
  • Experience in engineering design throughout the project lifecycle, from sales to installation/commissioning, from a specific engineering perspective.
  • Proven ability to contribute to decision-making processes regarding proposals.
  • Must adopt a pragmatic approach to problem-solving with a proactive and positive mindset.
  • Strong communication skills to engage on both technical and non-technical matters.
  • Proficient in utilizing engineering design tools.
  • Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales, and R&D disciplines.
  • Stay updated with current developments, particularly those of competitors.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D engineering design software.
  • Competent in IT and business system tools.

EDUCATIONAL / PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Relevant technical qualifications should encompass a blend of academic, vocational, and practical experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This role involves collaboration with other offices or subcontractors, which may include international travel; therefore, a valid UK Driving License and the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions are required.

Exposure to diverse cultures is desirable, along with experience working in multinational organizations.
