Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Michael Page. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for conducting day-to-day procurement activities, assisting the Purchasing Manager in delivering the strategic vision of the business, and working closely with various departments to drive best-in-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the managing of all external suppliers, handling negotiations, and driving for cost reductions, terms, and working capital improvements.
  • Work closely with the Production, Engineering, and Controls departments to achieve site-wide inventory and stock turns targets.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Sales, and Technical departments to drive product development and involvement in all purchase and supply chain activities.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure best terms, quality, lead-times, and price.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned to the business's needs.
  • Identify new suppliers for specified material groups.
  • Foster close working relationships with other departments, including Commercial, Production, Technical, and Finance.
  • Continually improve purchasing methods through supplier visits, value analysis, and driving down external spend.
  • Work with the production, commercial, and finance teams to ensure a smooth flow of the supply chain.
  • Liaise with key suppliers to ensure the smooth inflow of key raw materials and non-stock items on time and in full.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns and reduce waste.
  • Work with the Purchasing Manager to forecast levels of demand for materials to meet the business needs and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Undertake other tasks as required to assist the department.
  • Ensure compliance with all associated standards, including ISO, H&S, and Environmental.

Requirements:

  • Experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
